چکیده

We report the generation of pulsed optically pumped far-infrared (FIR) radiation with a repetition rate of 200 kHz. These pulses were obtained in a straightforward method by pumping a FIR resonator with a high repetition rate, rf-excited, waveguide CO2 laser. Pulses approximately 50 ns wide were generated both at 432.6 m in HCOOH, and 117.7 +n in CH,F,. The pulse width of the FIR radiation was studied as a function of the CO2 pulse width, and the relative delay between the two was measured. Based on this data we conclude that the FIR radiation was gain switched and of a duration which was a function of either the gain bandwidth of the FIR transition, or more likely the FIR cavity parameters.

Sub-four-cycle laser pulses directly from a high-repetition-rate optical parametric chirped-pulse amplifier at 3.4 μm.

We generate sub-four-cycle pulses (41.6 fs) with 12 μJ of pulse energy in the mid-infrared spectral range (center wavelength 3.4 μm) from a high-repetition-rate, collinear three-stage optical parametric chirped-pulse amplifier (OPCPA) operating at 50 kHz. Apodized aperiodically poled MgO:LiNbO3 crystals with a negative chirp rate are employed as gain media to achieve ultrabroadband phase-matchi...

High-repetition-rate femtosecond pulse generation in the blue.

We report the generation of high-repetition-rate femtosecond pulses in the blue by intracavity doubling of a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser using ,f-BaB204. To reduce the pulse-broadening effect of group-velocity mismatch, an extremely thin p-BaB204 crystal is used. By pumping the Ti:sapphire laser with 4.4 W of power from an Ar' laser, as much as 230 mW of 430-nm light is produced at a 72-MHz r...

Diode-pumped mode-locked femtosecond 2-μm Tm:CaYAlO4 laser

Continuous-wave mode-locked femtosecond 2-m solid-state laser with a c-cut Tm:CaYAlO4 (6 at.%) as gain medium was experimentally demonstrated. The mode locked laser generated stable pulses with average output power as high as 531 mW, pulse duration of 496 fs, and repetition rate of 97 MHz at 1975 nm. The research results show that Tm:CaYAlO4 is an excellent gain medium for femtosecond pulse ge...

Fiber-laser-pumped, high-energy, mid-IR, picosecond optical parametric oscillator with a high-harmonic cavity.

We demonstrate the generation of high-energy, mid-IR, picosecond pulses in a high-harmonic-cavity optical parametric oscillator (OPO) that has a relatively compact cavity with a length that is a small fraction of that required to match the pump repetition rate. The OPO, based on an MgO-doped periodically poled LiNbO3 crystal, is pumped by a fiber master-oscillator-power-amplifier system employi...

Generation of tunable subpicosecond light pulses in the midinfrared between 4.5 and 11.5 microm.

Stable subpicosecond infrared pulses in the spectral region of 4.5-11.5 microm are generated by difference-frequency mixing in AgGaS(2). The system uses femtosecond pulses from a Ti:sapphire regenerative amplifier and from a tunable traveling-wave dye laser. The infrared pulses have a duration of 400 fs, an energy of more than 10 nJ, and a repetition rate of 1 kHz.
